Mason Greenwood update offered by Jamaica chief in response to talk of ex-Man Utd star switching allegiance from England to Reggae Boyz

<p>Reports have suggested that the former Manchester United forward, who is now starring in France for Marseille, is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/mason-greenwood-completes-paperwork-switch-allegiance-from-england-to-jamaica-debut-date-set-for-ex-man-utd-forward/blt476057d227f1c85d" target="_blank">one signature away from committing</a> to the Reggae Boyz. His <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/foden--greenwood-axed-by-england-after-breaking-covid-rules-amid-allegations-of-girls-invited-to-hotel/1sc2z78w8gq8b1fruafye8lo35" target="_blank">solitary senior cap for the Three Lions was earned in a Nations League match with Iceland</a> in September 2020.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Greenwood is now <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/england-jamaica-mason-greenwood-international-future-update-ex-man-utd-forward-marseille-27m-transfer/bltd7e7c16ddc4b4c59" target="_blank">ready to join the Jamaican ranks</a>, which he qualifies for through his father, but the relevant paperwork there is not as close to being completed as some have suggested. <p>Dennis Chung, general secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), has said in the <a href="https://jamaica-star.com/article/sports/20250122/chung-nothing-new-greenwood-situation " target="_blank"><em>Jamaica Star</em></a> of Greenwood being close to severing ties with the England national team: “I do not know where that came from. Nothing has changed for us. It is the same situation.”</p><p>He added: “We are basically waiting on a document. That is all we are waiting on but we have been waiting on that for a little while and there is still no timeline on when that documentation will be completed.”</p>

WHAT JAMAICA CHIEF SAID
