<p>Barcelona are reported to be eager to buy the attacker in a permanent deal from Manchester United, and <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/25198107/mason-greenwood-barcelona-transfer-man-utd-getafe/" target="_blank"><em>The Sun</em></a><em> </em>reports they are willing to give him the famous shirt number worn by eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi as they look to beat the competition to his signature.</p>

<p>Barca are among the clubs interested in signing Greenwood on a permanent basis following his performances in Spain since he joined Getafe on loan from United. He has scored five goals in 15 matches for the Madrid club, resulting in them <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-gbp40m-offer-mason-greenwood-getafe-club-record-transfer-barcelona-real-madrid-atletico/blt434780018a679d4a" target="_blank">offering a reported £40 million ($51.2m) to buy him outright</a>, though they face competition from other clubs. United may be willing to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-utd-make-huge-mason-greenwood-u-turn-after-public-backlash/blt4b47569974b519af" target="_blank">part ways with the 22-year-old permanently after he was accused of sexual assault and domestic violence</a>, though the charges were eventually dropped.</p>
