During the World Cup last summer, Arsenal attempted to sign England's No. 1 goalkeeper, but Manchester United turned them down. As per <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/03/11/arsenal-mary-earps-daphne-van-domselaar-transfer-news-villa/" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a>, Arsenal may now be losing interest in signing Earps as they have turned their attentions to signing Aston Villa's Daphne van Domselaar instead.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Van Domselaar's contract has a £200,000 release clause, and according to insiders, Arsenal have made the 24-year-old a top priority for their summer transfer window. The Dutch shot-stopper is regarded as one of the most talented in the sport right now and has been touted to become one of the best in the world. She signed a three-year deal with Aston Villa last year after leaving FC Twente and has been enjoying life in the Women's Super League with the Villans.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/03/11/arsenal-mary-earps-daphne-van-domselaar-transfer-news-villa/" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a> in February, the Dutch shot-stopper said: "I am really happy with my choice to join Aston Villa and join the WSL, which is the best league in the world. There’s a lot of potential in the team and I’m happy where I am right now. It’s a good team."

WHAT VAN DOMSELAAR SAID

The futures of both players are likely to become clearer over the next few months. A decision will certainly need to be made regarding Earps as the stopper's Manchester United contract expires at the end of the season.
