<p><a href="https://www.relevo.com/futbol/mercado-fichajes/manchester-city-dispuesto-llevarse-zubimendi-20241007155751-nt.html" target="_blank">Relevo</a> recently reported that the Cityzens are looking to sign a defensive midfielder in the January transfer window after seeing talisman <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/crushing-blow-man-city-rodri-acl-injury-rest-of-season-over-arsenal-premier-league/blt98646a8967a2434c" target="_blank">Rodri sidelined with a long-term injury</a>. The report also claimed that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-city-willing-to-sign-martin-zubimendi-january-rodri-injury/blt4dbe0c5f16fd4f31#cs223eacc69f36d163" target="_blank">Pep Guardiola's side could approach Zubimendi</a> with an offer as they are willing to trigger his £50.3m ($65.8m/€60m) release clause.</p>

<p>The Real Sociedad and Spain star was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liverpool-boss-arne-slot-addresses-failed-martin-zubimendi-pursuit-rejects-anfield-move/blt543ccf3f89f917e5#cscfe58eff001da9fa" target="_blank">closely linked with a move to Liverpool</a> during the summer transfer window and the Reds were confident about landing the player, however, the 25-year-old later refused to leave the Spanish club at the last moment as the transfer collapsed. </p>

<p>The midfielder has seemed to play down move of a talk. He told reporters, "There are always rumours but until now I've always thought that the best solution for me is staying at Real Sociedad. I've still a lot of things to give to this club, I still want to grow and develop here."</p>

WHAT ZUBIMENDI SAID

<p>The player is currently with the Spain national team who are preparing to face Denmark and Serbia in Nations League clashes on October 12 and October 16 respectively.</p>
