Marc Guehi ready to snub Chelsea and Newcastle interest as Crystal Palace star dreams of heading to Real Madrid or Barcelona on free transfer

<p>Guehi, who has only a year left in his Crystal Palace contract, could move to La Liga next year as the player dreams of playing for Barcelona or Madrid, according to <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/34991842/marc-guehi-crystal-palace-real-madrid-barcelona-transfer/" target="_blank"><em>The Sun</em></a>. Premier League clubs like <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-green-light-marc-guehi-bid-crystal-palace-plan-sell-tottenham-newcastle-target-eberechi-eze-summer-transfer-window/bltc5b17e6e328ab37b" target="_blank">Chelsea</a>, Tottenham and Newcastle are also keen on signing the English defender, and while the Magpies are being considered favourites to land the centre-back, there is a possibility that he runs down his contract at Selhurst Park before joining one of the Liga giants as a free agent.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>As per La Liga rules, Spanish clubs can include only three non-EU players in their matchday squads. However, Guehi has reportedly renewed his Ivory Coast passport, which gives him a significant advantage in his move to secure a transfer to Spain. Players of African origins will be treated as Spanish players under the Cotonou Agreement — agreed between the EU and Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States.</p>

<p>Speaking to reporters about his future, Guehi told reporters: "I’m still on a contract, so my focus is always at this football club. The most important thing is just doing the best I can and seeing where the future holds. As far as I’m concerned, I’m a Palace player."</p>
