Ex-Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit hopes Cucurella has learned his lesson, with the French World Cup winner telling Android Poker Apps: “Erling Haaland scoring against Marc Cucurella is probably karma. It reminds me of times before big games when I was playing and some players would say a lot in press conferences. In my teams, we always said never to talk big about a player before a game otherwise that could turn into a weapon against us. WHAT PETIT SAID

Cucurella was replaced during Chelsea’s defeat against City, leading to him taking more abuse from the travelling support. The Blues are not due to face Haaland and Co again until January 25, 2025, although they could be drawn together in cup competition prior to that.
