Man Utd women player ratings vs Leicester: Ella Toone unable to inspire Red Devils from the bench in disappointing draw

Manchester United were held to a surprise draw by Leicester on Sunday, unable to come from a goal down at home to beat a side that were involved in the Women's Super League's relegation battle last year. Aileen Whelan broke the deadlock for the Foxes just before the hour mark and despite United managing to equalise within just a few minutes thanks to Maya Le Tissier's header, the hosts were unable to go on and get the goal they needed for all three points.

Marc Skinner's side started the game well and created plenty of chances but Lucia Garcia and Nikita Parris were both unable to convert those that came their way, while Japan international Hinata Miyazawa also smashed an effort against the crossbar before half time.

United's wastefulness was punished on the hour when Leicester took the lead through Whelan, who was completely unmarked as she capitalised on a poor headed clearance from Millie Turner and drilled a shot across the face of goal and into the back of Mary Earps' net.

Le Tissier met Katie Zelem's corner brilliantly to head home and level the scores shortly afterwards but United's biggest chance for a second goal saw Parris head into Janina Leitzig's arms in the 99th minute instead of past the Leicester goalkeeper.
