<p>According to journalist <a href="https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/1847313442253754877" target="_blank">Florian Plettenberg</a>, Sporting manager Amorim is being considered as a possible replacement for Erik ten Hag at United if the Dutchman is sacked. He adds the Red Devils have put out the feelers for the 39-year-old, but are still sticking with Ten Hag for now. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/pep-guardiola-man-city-man-utd-target-ruben-amorim-sporting-lisbon/blt239fed2052ba7d3f" target="_blank">City are also monitoring Amorim's situation</a>, with Guardiola <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/pep-guardiola-promises-future-decision-insists-man-city-have-options-to-replace-him/blt70a8e3539cc42de7" target="_blank">out of contract next summer</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Plettenberg adds Amorim is not planning to leave the Portuguese side this season but his contract - which runs until 2026 - includes a release clause next summer. It seems both Manchester club are keeping tabs on the young manager's situation. Replacing Guardiola or Ten Hag will be a huge task, for different reasons.</p>
