<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/manchester-united-reject-marcus-rashford-bench-warmer-barcelona-fearsome-front-three/bltdb7dc06196792345" target="_blank">Rashford is set to complete a move to La Liga</a> champions Barcelona shortly after agreeing to join Hansi Flick's side on a season-long loan. The deal will also include an option to make the transfer permanent in June 2026 for a fee of €35 million (£30m). However, if Barcelona do not take up the option to sign Rashford permanently they will have to pay the Red Devils a penalty fee of around €5m (£4.3m), as reported by Fabrizio Romano (via <a href="https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/penalizacion-tendra-pagar-barca-compra-119929049" target="_blank">Diario Sport)</a>.</p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Manchester United used a similar clause last season with Jadon Sancho. The winger moved to Chelsea on a loan but the Blues then opted to pay the Red Devils £5m to send <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/cut-price-transfer-fee-barcelona-have-to-pay-man-utd-keep-marcus-rashford-permanently/blt2843bbc8a23c42bc#csef5eaeb30ff3ab03" target="_blank">Sancho back after deciding against recruiting him on a permanent basis</a>. Sancho remains a Manchester United player for the time being, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/juventus-submit-audacious-first-jadon-sancho-offer-after-agreeing-personal-terms-with-man-utd-winger/blt7035cd74ef9fc0f9" target="_blank">although he has been linked with a move to Juventus this summer</a>.</p><p></p>
