Getafe are interested in signing the 22-year-old on a second loan deal from United, but <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/26837241/man-utd-mason-greenwood-getafe-transfer/" target="_blank">The Sun</a> reports the Red Devils are not interested in another temporary deal. Instead, the Old Trafford club would rather sell him on a permanent basis.

WHAT HAPPENED?

<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/mason-greenwood-next-club-getafe-talks-man-utd-forward-la-liga/bltb297a18b0ea75fc6" target="_blank">Greenwood was loaned to Getafe last summer</a> after charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault against him were dropped. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/mason-greenwood-man-utd-loanee-getafe-las-palmas/bltc6a6b457e83fe838" target="_blank">He has impressed while on loan in La Liga</a>, scoring six goals and registering five assists in 24 appearances in the Spanish top-flight.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

It was reported this week that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-team-mates-prepared-welcome-mason-greenwood-back-england-international-star-on-loan-getafe/blt04800a2ec8a171d6" target="_blank">the United squad are prepared to welcome Greenwood back into the team</a> next season. Meanwhile, England manager Gareth Southgate refused to rule out a return to the national team, saying: "Allowing him to get his career going again abroad appears to have been a good move. But I have to say I have not tracked it closely. At this moment in time it would be a big distraction for the team [to select him before Euro 2024] and let’s see where that leads next season."
