Man Utd and Man City dealt transfer blow as Monaco starlet Maghnes Akliouche claims he could reject Premier League interest to remain in France next season

<p>Monaco midfielder Akliouche has revealed he would be happy to stay at the club for another season after they qualified for the Champions League. Les Monegasques have secured a top-three finish in Ligue 1 and could still come second if they better Marseille's result on the final weekend of the campaign.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>It was reported back in April that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-city-psg-ready-battle-monaco-star-maghnes-akliouche-summer-but-bid-pep-guardiola-s-side-depend-champions-league-qualification/bltfd88876c97c3350a#cs2edc74012ea554e0" target="_blank">Monaco were likely to sell Akliouche during the summer</a>, with City and French champions Paris Saint-Germain linked with moves. United's interest is also said to have developed, but the 23-year-old has now admitted he would be more than happy to extend his stay at Stade Louis II.</p>

<p>Speaking as quoted by <a href="https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2025/manchester-city-and-manchester-united-target-maghnes-akliouche-says-he-could-stay-at-monaco/" target="_blank">Get French Football News</a>, Akliouche said: "I am under contract at Monaco and I hope that I will be here next season, why not?"</p>

WHAT AKLIOUCHE SAID

<p>Both City and United are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window. Pep Guardiola needs fresh legs in central midfield, with Kevin De Bruyne departing and the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva struggling this term, while the Red Devils have endured a torrid Premier League campaign and will surely look to strengthen Ruben Amorim's squad before the 2025-26 season.</p>
