<p>According to <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/36015246/man-utd-scout-eivind-helland-transfer/" target="_blank"><em>The Sun</em>,</a> United scouted Helland at a recent match and may view him as the long-term <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-maguire-rejoin-man-utd-squad-solving-personal-matter-pre-season-tour-flight-us/bltaae9987f3154fc91" target="_blank">successor to Harry Maguire.</a> Bayern Munich are also scouting the Norway Under-21 international and may rival the Red Devils for his signature, though he was sent off in his side's defeat to KFUM with a Bayern representative present.</p>

<p>Maguire has just a year left on his contract and after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bryan-mbeumo-matheus-cunha-take-man-utd-another-level-mason-mount-reveals-excitement-new-signings/blt4faac54dcfac51a0" target="_blank">focusing on attacking improvements so far this summer,</a> United must spend some time working on a succession plan for the England international. Helland received the high praise of a comparison with Ballon d'Or holder Rodri by Brann coach Freyr Alexandersson prior to the beginning of the Norwegian domestic campaign and <em>The Sun</em>'s report states he has "the potential to be the best centre-back Norway has ever produced".</p>

<p>The 6'5 defender is composed on the ball despite his commanding physical presence and has been known to spray accurate, long-range passes out to the wings. Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Salzburg are also aware of the potential of Helland, who recently captained Norway's U21s in a 4-0 victory over Wales.</p>
