Georgson has left his post as the head coach of Norwegian side Lillestrom and has previously plied his trade at Brentford, Arsenal and Southampton in the Premier League. INEOS have triggered the 42-year-old's release clause to end his seven-month association with the Norwegian side.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Manchester United's technical director, Jason Wilcox, is reportedly the one who suggested Georgson as an option having previously worked with him at Southampton. Wilcox confirmed the Saints' appointment of the Swedish coach as he hailed him as an expert at set-pieces, suggesting that he will be the technical set-piece coach for Erik ten Hag.Wilcox said at the time: "Andreas has an excellent understanding of the game model we’re building here, in which set-pieces play an important role. He is an expert in what he does and truly eats, sleeps and breathes set pieces, adding another string to our bow within the backroom staff."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

There has been a major shift in the personnel at Old Trafford this summer after the Red Devils let Eric Ramsey, Benni McCarthy, Mitchell van der Gaag and Richard Hartis leave the club. They have also appointed <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/ruud-van-nistelrooy-back-man-utd-coaching-staff-erik-ten-hag/bltcd7aa84fb54c3caf#csbea0ea3cf215fccc" target="_blank">Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy</a> as assistant managers with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-in/lists/man-utd-boss-erik-ten-hag-ajax-goalkeeping-coach-two-months-after-joining-eredivisie-giants/bltf253a86ff2f683e5" target="_blank">Jelle ten Rouwelaar taking over as goalkeeping coach</a>. Darren Fletcher has now been promoted to first-team coach with Steve McClaren hailing the senior first-team coach role.
