<p>After seeing their first bid of £45 million with £10 million in add-ons for Mbeumo getting rejected by Brentford, United have now <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-raise-bryan-mbeumo-offer-red-devils-make-improved-bid-gbp60m-bid-beat-tottenham-brentford-star/blte997f6c694f13d7b#cs16ddd68f8d1a8822" target="_blank">come back with a new and improved bid</a> of £60 million ($81m), £55m up front and £5m in add-ons. The second bid is much closer to the Bees' asking price for the player, at around £62.5m, the amount the Red Devils had paid for Matheus Cunha, according to <a href="https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/man-utd-transfer-news-mbeumo-b1234580.html" target="_blank"><em>The Standard</em></a>. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Brentford have the upper hand in the transfer negotiations as they have the option to extend the player's contract by one more year when it expires in the summer of 2026. While United remain firm favourites to secure the transfer as the Cameroonian's preferred destination is Old Trafford, the Bees could welcome a bidding war with Tottenham also in the race.  </p>
