<p>According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6385533/2025/05/27/manchester-united-transfers-matheus-cunha/" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a><em>, </em>United have agreed to pay Cunha's £62.5m release clause after seeing their first official bid turned down by their Premier League rivals. Cunha’s release clause is set at <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/matheus-cunha-man-utd-bound-strike-deal-to-sign-wolves-talisman-avoid-paying-gbp62-5m-release-clause/bltc283a8f08e815d29" target="_blank">£62.5 million ($84.4m), a figure that United</a> are prepared to meet - they had hoped to pay the clause over five instalments but are now likely to pay over two, instead. </p>

<p>The Midlands outfit have now given Cunha permission to travel for a medical with United, who will hope to finalise personal terms and complete the transfer. The club are hopeful they can sign him on the day the transfer window opens: June 1. </p>
