<p>The 28-year-old's current terms expire in 2027, but <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6083381/2025/08/04/ruben-dias-manchester-city-contract/?source=user_shared_article" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a> state an agreement has been reached between Dias and City to sign a new contract. It is not yet known how long the Portugal international's new deal will run for, however.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Dias swapped Benfica for City in 2020 for an initial £62 million ($82m) and so far he has proven to be an excellent acquisition, helping them win Premier League titles, domestic cups and the Champions League. Ergo, this contract news for the centre-back is a big boost for City as they try to become a force in the Premier League and Europe again next season.</p>

<p>Portugal star Dias has made 222 appearances for the Manchester outfit so far, scoring four goals along the way. He was voted the Premier League's Player of the Season in the 2020-21 campaign.</p>
