<p>One of the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/luka-vuskovic-monster-goal-scoring-centre-back-tottenham/bltd1570a122c48426b" target="_blank">most prodigious youngsters in European football</a>, Vuskovic signed for Tottenham in 2023 and will join the squad this summer having turned 18 in February. The teenager has played for hometown club Hajduk Split, Radomiak Radom and Westerlo in the past two years and his hulking physique has helped him develop into a major threat in the attacking third despite playing at centre-back.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Tottenham's 2024-25 season has been filled with injuries, with starting centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven both missing significant chunks of the campaign. Radu Dragusin is currently sidelined and Kevin Danso has just returned to matchday availability, but Vuskovic is confident he can assert himself near the top of the pecking order when he finally arrives in north London.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>In a recent interview, Vuskovic told <br><a href="https://www.lavenir.net/sports/football/d1a/2025/04/18/luka-vuskovic-la-sensation-de-westerlo-vu-comme-lun-des-futurs-meilleurs-defenseurs-du-monde-je-ne-me-considere-pas-comme-un-phenomene-72KP3WKTBBGOPPCROKNRVGCPVM/" target="_blank">L'Avenir<br></a>: "I think it's possible, even though there are already world-class players there, like Van de Ven or Romero. I want to move forward step by step: finish the season well in Westerlo, then make my place in Tottenham. Then we'll see what the future holds.<br></p><p>"I feel more and more confident match after match. My style of play? I am a strong defender, who still needs to improve aggressiveness in one to one situations. I work a lot with a personal coach, who focuses on my speed and explosiveness. But defending is not the thing I prefer in football. I also like to attack and score goals.<br></p><p>"I scored twice from the halfway line with Hajduk Split. I've always scored goals in my career, I love that too much. I intend to remain a defender, but I like to score on a corner or free kick."<br></p>

WHAT VUSKOVIC SAID

<p>Vuskovic has spent this season on loan at Belgian side Westerlo and has scored a remarkable seven goals in 30 league matches. He also netted three times in the Ekstraklasa in Poland and the €11m Tottenham forked out for his signature became the biggest sale in Hajduk Split’s history.</p>
