The Croatian midfielder has opted to wear the No. 14 shirt for the 2025-26 season, which was occasionally worn by former Milan player and manager Ancelotti during his playing days at the club.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Modric, 39, has signed a deal with Milan until June 2026, with an option to extend for a further year. The move reunites the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner with Serie A, where he is expected to play a pivotal role under head coach Massimiliano Allegri. His arrival follows the departure of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City, leaving a gap in midfield leadership that Modric is set to fill. Reijnders wore the No. 14 shirt last season.</p><p>He spoke to the media briefly on Monday after arriving in Milan, saying: "I'm very happy to be here, great challenges await me, I will have time to talk about all this."</p>
