<p>The Brazilian was investigated by the FA over alleged betting breaches during his time with West Ham last October. Paqueta was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/lucas-paqueta-issues-furious-response-hit-fa-charge-breaching-betting-rules-leaves-man-city-move-danger-collapse/blt5eacc89153dd4ee1" target="_blank">accused of deliberately getting booked</a> in four Premier League games against Leicester City, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Bournemouth during the 2022/23 season. He was then charged with misconduct in May.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Now, <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/30887989/lucas-paqueta-west-ham-betting-charges-date-set/" target="_blank">The Sun</a> reports that the 27-year-old's hearing could begin in March 2025 and he may <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/ten-year-ban-lucas-paqueta-west-ham-fear-brazil-career-over-after-charge-betting-breaches/bltd8c7d56a4fd8ff6e" target="_blank">face a lifetime ban</a> if found guilty. He is also charged with two counts of failing to comply with the ongoing investigation into the matter.</p>

<p>The Hammers have maintained their full support to their star player during this process. Earlier this summer, some reports claimed that the Premier League club were <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/west-ham-cut-ties-sponsor-betway-role-lucas-paqueta-alleged-betting-breaches/blt6698a36a1317fef5#cs52deb59ee5573be5" target="_blank">planning to part ways with their sponsor Betway</a> after it was suggested that the online gambling company were linked with his charges.</p>
