As they close in on another La Liga star in the form of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/liverpool-transfer-latest-giorgi-mamardashvili-close-agreeing-reds-move-valencia-goalkeeper/bltb47a4d09152a8d86" target="_blank">Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili</a>, Liverpool are now reportedly also ready to make a bid for Everton's Branthwaite.

WHAT HAPPENED?

<a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/30040944/liverpool-transfer-branthwaite-everton-move/" target="_blank">The Sun</a> claim that Liverpool have prepared a mammoth offer worth £63 million ($82.7m) plus £7 million ($9.1m) in add-ons to try and sign the centre-back from their Merseyside rivals. The highly-rated 22-year-old has been a major target for Manchester United, who have had two bids rejected by the Toffees, with the latest offer <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-not-giving-up-on-jarrad-branthwaite-transfer-failed-everton-defender-touted-liverpool-switch/blt701676cfa80f6f18" target="_blank">reported to be around £50 million ($65.6m)</a>.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Red Devils have already signed two centre-backs this summer in the form of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/erik-ten-hag-man-utd-confirm-double-signing-matthijs-de-ligt-noussair-mazraoui/blt7d168169ca631949" target="_blank">Matthijs de Ligt</a> and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-lenny-yoro-red-devils-real-madrid-liverpool-gbp52m-lille-star/blt6c20f3f16147a47e#cs32b66a79edfbeb6d" target="_blank">Leny Yoro</a>. As such, United will likely not be pulled into a bidding war against Liverpool this summer.
