Van Dijk, meanwhile, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/virgil-van-dijk-reveals-liverpool-contract-standoff-finally-over-stops-short-committing-future/bltc0eb661efd7b80fd" target="_blank">said recently that "progress" has been made in talks</a> with the Premier League leaders and is expected to commit his future to the club.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The news suggests an imminent end to months of speculation about the duo. Salah hinted that he would leave the club when his current contract expires at the end of the season amid talk of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/mohamed-salah-saudi-arabia-confident-out-of-contract-liverpool-star-will-consider-summer-pro-league-switch/bltc830a9548086ee0a" target="_blank">a lucrative deal awaiting him in Saudi Arabia</a>.
