Fresh after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/mary-earps-receives-her-mbe-reward-2023-world-cup-heroics-lionesses-goalkeeper-windsor-castle-speculation-man-utd-future/blt27b8a26885eeb2fc" target="_blank">receiving her MBE</a>, United goalkeeper Earps spoke about the WSL title race between Manchester City and defending champions Chelsea; while also looking ahead to United's crunch clash with Spurs on Sunday. The 31-year-old alluded to the Red Devils being a long way off challenging for the league, with Marc Skinner's side 17 points off top spot.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On the FA Cup final, the England star told Sky Sports: "I am really looking forward to it, it will be the highlight of the season for sure by a million miles. I feel like I have been counting it down for weeks now."And on the WSL title race, she added: "I don't know, it's pretty tough. City have been in great form this year and Chelsea know how to win, they win year in, year out; it will be a tough battle between the two of them. WHAT MARY EARPS SAID

United have had a disappointing WSL season as they sit fifth in the table, a far cry from finishing as runners-up behind Chelsea in the 2022/23 campaign. This term, City and the Blues are leading the pack, with the former holding a three-point lead but the latter have a game in hand and a superior goal difference. Despite that, this is a chance for Earps and the Red Devils to secure a bit of history this weekend with their first-ever FA Cup triumph.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

After the Tottenham encounter, Earps' United side will round off their season at home to title-chasing Chelsea on May 18. Incidentally, the Red Devils beat Emma Hayes' team in the semi-finals of the FA Cup last month.
