Lewandowski and Sancho lead Bundesliga Team of the Season

Gladbach's successful first season under Marco Rose was thanks to impressive performances across the pitch.This started with the Bundesliga's most consistent goalkeeper, as Yann Sommer proved once again why he is so reliable between the posts.
The Switzerland international saved more shots than any other goalkeeper in the German top-flight and also had the best save percentage of any regular No.1.

Achraf Hakimi's second season on loan at Borussia Dortmund was an improvement on his first as he proved himself in a variety of positions under Lucien Favre.
He was most effective down the right flank for BVB, and was the only defender to provide more than 10 Bundesliga assists in 2019-20.

The Morocco international&nbsp;also chipped in with five goals, and though Dortmund are keen to keep hold of him, all signs point to him joining Inter this summer in a €40 million (£36m/$45m) deal.

RB: Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)

Matthias Ginter won the World Cup with Germany back in 2014 despite not playing a single minute for Die Mannschaft. However, since moving to Gladbach in 2017, he has become their most important defender and this season as has progressed more under new head coach Marco Rose.
Ginter is not only a rock at the back, but helps build the play by bringing the ball forward and finding a team-mate, something he has done over 1800 times in 2019-20.

CB: Matthias Ginter (Borussia Monchengladbach)

Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Martin Hinteregger is the top scoring defender in Europe's top five leagues with eight goals in 2019-20.
However, the 27-year-old Austrian is not just a danger going forward and at set pieces, but is dominant in defence too and is the only centre-back to have more than 50 successful tackles in the league this season.

Canada teenager Alphonso Davies has been a sensation this season, coming to many people's attention with his perfomances in the Champions League.
In the Bundesliga, he was used as a makeshift left-back during a defensive crisis and has never looked back.

His boundless energy has kept opposition defenders busy, while his speed allows him to get back to stop counterattacks. In June, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/davies-smashes-bundesliga-speed-record-in-bayerns-clash-with/197xj2biyxzlq1u7t0ldlwxfpa" target="_blank">he smashed the Bundesliga speed record to become the fastest player in the league's history</a>.

LB: Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)

The successor to Philipp Lahm at Bayern Munich, Joshua Kimmich has more than lived up to the billing as he transitioned from being Bayern's first-choice right-back to their first-choice defensive midfielder.
This season, Kimmich has kept things ticking over for Bayern&nbsp;in the middle of the park, leading the Bundesliga in successful passes while&nbsp;his delightful chip&nbsp;against Borussia Dortmund essentially sealed the league title for the Bavarians.

While Joshua Kimmich takes on the defensive role in the centre of the field for Bayern Munich, Thiago often provides the killer instinct to help Hansi Flick's side put opponents to the sword.
He often finds his team-mates in dangerous positions, delivering the key pass before the assist to unlock defences.

Only five players in the past 13 seasons have recorded both 15 goals and 15 assists in the same season. Jadon Sancho became the fifth this year, joining elite company in Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard.
Sancho is still only 20 years old and keeps getting better. Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep him, but face a difficult task as many of Europe's biggest clubs are interested.

Thomas Muller hit a lot of milestones in 2019-20: winning his ninth Bundesliga title, playing his 350th league game for Bayern Munich and breaking Kevin De Bruyne's Bundesliga assists record.
The club legend had found himself benched by Niko Kovac, but new Bayern coach Hansi Flick made Muller one of the key players in attack and was rewarded with 21&nbsp;assists and eight&nbsp;goals.

Now <a href="http://goal.com/en/news/central-striker-out-wide-where-will-werner-play-for-chelsea/cvqow2ku0nj112twpkiuc8f9f" target="_blank">officially a Chelsea player</a>, Timo Werner was one of the main reasons RB Leipzig stayed in the Bundesliga title race as long as they did.
The Germany forward was used both out wide and in a front two by Julian Nagelsmann, and scored goals regardless of where he was lined up.

Werner enjoyed&nbsp;his best-ever season with 28&nbsp;Bundesliga goals and was the only player to come close to Robert Lewandowski in the top scorer battle.

LW: Timo Werner (RB Leipzig)

Two things seem certain in German football: Bayern Munich will win the Bundesliga and Robert Lewandowski will finish as top scorer.
This was exactly what happened in 2019-20 with Lewandowski scoring more league goals than ever before, even prompting speculation that he might have had a shot at breaking Gerd Muller's all-time league record of 40 goals.

At 31, Lewandowski shows no sign of slowing down.

ST: Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Bayer Leverkusen battled for the top four all season, partly thanks to Kai Havertz, who took on the captain's armband and led by example despite only turning 21 in June.
Leverkusen did struggle defensively at times early in the season, so the addition of Edmond Tapsoba at centre-back helped make them more stable.

Borussia Dortmund finished second once again, with Mats Hummels strengthening the backline after returning from Bayern Munich, while Thorgan Hazard also proved an astute signing. Erling Haaland was sensational in the Bundesliga after arriving with Emre Can in January.

RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku was also a great new addition to the league, while Marcus Thuram formed a brilliant partnership with Alassane Plea at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Konrad Laimer's relentless pressing was crucial to Leipzig's strong season, allowing Marcel Sabitzer to get further forward and chip in with important goals.

Serge Gnabry continued to improve at Bayern Munich, where David Alaba made the centre-back role his own even after the club broke their transfer record to bring in a defender.

Further down the table, Suat Serdar was a big presence for Schalke, who went on a winless run after he was injured. Florian Niederlechner and Sebastian Andersson&nbsp;were among the league's top scorers and helped their sides avoid relegation.

Rouwen Hennings was a rare bright light in Fortuna Dusseldorf's side, while Wout Weghorst led the line brilliantly for Wolfsburg as they qualified for the Europa League. Filip Kostic was Eintracht Frankfurt's creative spark, while things look brighter in Berlin thanks to the signing of Matheus Cunha for Hertha.
