Landon Emenalo: Chelsea wonderkid sparks 'tug of war' between England and USMNT

<p>Emenalo is a highly-rated midfielder who has came through the Chelsea academy and appears to now be in the middle of a tug-of-war between England and the United States over his international future. The 16-year-old has already played for the US Under-17s this year but has now been called up to the England Under-17 squad for Euro 2025 qualifiers&nbsp;later this month, as reported by <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/10/18/england-usa-tug-of-war-chelsea-landon-emenalo/"><em>The Telegraph</em></a>.</p><p></p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Emenalo was born in Arizona and is the son of former Chelsea director of football Michael. He's spent most of his career at Chelsea but appears to have a big decision to make regarding his international football. Former <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/usmnt-mexico-mauricio-pochettino/blt22e11923559bb48f" target="_blank">Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino</a> has just taken over as the new head coach of the USMNT and will know all about Emenalo from his time at Stamford Bridge.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Emenalo is also eligible to play for the Nigeria national team. His father represented the Super Eagles during his playing career and won 14 caps in total.</p><p></p>

<p>Emenalo and England's Under-17s are due to play Malta on October 25 and then take on Latvia three days later.
