<p>The Belgium international has now given the green light to a move to Italy and is set to jet out for a medical with Napoli, according to<em> </em><a href="https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1932687090489123327" target="_blank"><em>Fabrizio Romano</em></a>. De Bruyne will sign a two-year deal, with an option for an extra year, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/kevin-de-bruyne-napoli-belgian-dynamo-free-transfer-scott-mctominay-serie-a-champions-man-city-exit/blt390dfd4f0f4c23df" target="_blank">following his departure from Manchester City</a>.</p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>De Bruyne had attracted interest <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/kevin-de-bruyne-future-gives-green-light-transfer-makes-big-call-mls-switch/bltf958bed672b19d93" target="_blank">from teams in MLS</a> but has opted to continue his career in Europe with Napoli. His arrival will be a big boost to the club following their stunning Serie A title win last season and he will link up with former Manchester United midfielder McTominay at the Italian side. The Scot <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/scott-mctominay-king-naples-ex-man-utd-midfielder-diego-maradona-napoli-serie-a-title/blt2b881e9aaf85b47e" target="_blank">enjoyed a brilliant campaign in 2024-25</a> and played a key role in Napoli's title success, scoring 12 league goals.</p>
