'We are talking' - Juventus chief confirms discussion with Paul Pogba as midfielder prepares to resume career after doping ban reduction

<p><a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/paul-pogba-juventus-midfielder-doping-ban-reduced-following-appeal/blt5e2f1cac38c2d0c4#cs7cfc6034c47516e9" target="_blank">Pogba's doping ban has been dramatically shortened from four years to 18 months</a>, meaning that he could return to action in March of 2025. It is unclear, though, if he will play for Juventus again, as reports have suggested that the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/paul-pogba-juventus-set-agree-contract-termination-ex-man-utd-star-eager-fresh-start-doping-ban-reduced-appeal/bltf5a4fc581f5c0c30#cs29d468ebaea5c405" target="_blank">club are minded to terminate his deal</a>, and potentially allow him to continue his career elsewhere.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Scanavino has not confirmed whether Juventus want Pogba to stay or not, but has confirmed that the club have doubts over his fitness, given that he has not kicked a ball since September 2023, when he came off the bench against Empoli in Serie A.</p>

<p>Scanavino told <a href="https://football-italia.net/juventus-chiellini-contribution-pogba-future/" target="_blank"><em>Sky Sport Italia</em></a>: “We are talking to his entourage. Pogba is a great player and he certainly can still play. However, between injuries and bans, he effectively hasn’t really played for two years.</p><p>“These are all elements we need to evaluate and I can confirm we are talking to his staff.”</p>

WHAT SCANAVINO SAID

<p>There is the prospect of Pogba joining another club and he has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/paul-pogba-advanced-discussions-marseille-january-transfer-former-man-utd-star-mason-greenwood-ligue-1/blta34c7f11fb66d43b" target="_blank">linked with a potential move to France with Ligue 1 club Marseille</a>. He has never plied his trade in his home country at senior level.</p>
