It is not the start to the 2024-25 season that the England midfielder hoped for, and he made his feelings clear when he admitted to being "very frustrated" in an <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/real-madrid-star-jude-bellingham-heartfelt-message-through-injury/blt5c308901c5e16ffe" target="_blank">Instagram</a> post after the setback.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bellingham's schedule in 2024 has been busier than most of his peers', having reached the Champions League and European Championship finals with Real Madrid and England respectively. The 21-year-old was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/hey-jude-sergio-aguero-quiet-dinner-interrupted-awesome-jude-bellingham-real-madrid-star-man-city-royalty-holiday/blt805b8a1b904a2c3b" target="_blank">afforded an extended break</a> after the international tournament in Germany but he admitted in his Instagram post that his body might need even more rest before he is ready for the season.

Alaba is also sidelined with a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/acl-nightmare-real-madrid-david-alaba-horror-knee-injury-toni-kroos-rodrygo-brahim-diaz-villarreal/blt48bfde95e21ca97d" target="_blank">ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee</a>. The defender suffered the injury in December and has been through the lonely and demanding rehabilitation process since undergoing surgery.
