WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Previous winners of the award include the likes of Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi, while the holder was Barcelona's Gavi. This year, Bellingham was up against the likes of Jamal Musiala at Bayern Munich, Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund and Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, but he won by a landslide, receiving a staggering 97% of the votes. Kylian Mbappe received the same share when he won the award in 2017. </p>

<p>Bellingham has enjoyed a stunning start to life in La Liga and has scored 10 goals in his first 11 league games, while also chipping in with three goals in three games in the Champions League. The 20-year-old has also developed into one of England's best players, winning 27 caps under Gareth Southgate. </p>
