<p>The Old Trafford academy graduate took in 232 appearances for the Red Devils, becoming an England international along the way, and often played with a smile on his face. <p>Questions have, however, been asked of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/how-wayne-rooney-reacted-paul-pogba-jesse-lingard-dancing-instagram-rio-ferdinand-concerned-phone-call-man-utd-legend/blt3ba09daa073ac885" target="_blank">whether the likes of Lingard, Pogba and Rashford took things seriously enough</a> – with United enduring alarming regression as supposed superstars failed to perform on a consistent basis.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Lingard has now picked up a social media post from late 2024 in which he stands accused of destroying the culture at Old Trafford that the likes of legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, alongside a host of Premier League and Champions League title winners, helped to build.</p>
