It was a tough call at goalkeeper, with new signings such as Alisson and Kepa impressing already at Liverpool and Chelsea, respectively.
However,&nbsp;the money involved in those record-breaking deals only makes&nbsp;free transfer Rui Patricio an even stronger early contender for signing of the season.

Wolves have already taken points off&nbsp;both Manchester clubs and that is in no small part due to the Portuguese's heroics in between the sticks.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier has carried his World Cup form into the new season.
The England international has been solid at the back but it's going forward where he catches the eye and 'The Bury Beckham'&nbsp;has already contributed&nbsp;two assists,&nbsp;as well as scoring an amazing free-kick against Fulham.

Virgil van Dijk is looking like £75 million well spent, with the Netherlands captain proving a rock at the back for Liverpool this season.
Indeed, although the Dutch centre-half had a rare rush of blood to the head in last weekend's draw with Manchester City, he&nbsp;is the main reason the Reds&nbsp;have only conceded three goals so far this season.

David Luiz has enjoyed another career revival at Chelsea&nbsp;this season.
The Brazilian's days at Stamford Bridge&nbsp;looked numbered&nbsp;after he fell out of favour under former boss Antonio Conte last season but the 31-year-old has bounced back brilliantly under new manager Maurizio Sarri and become one of the most important players in the Blues' back-line once again.

Chelsea ace Marcos Alonso is once again showing that he is one of the best attacking full-backs in the world.
The Spain international has crafted four goals this season, as well as finding the back of the net himself once.&nbsp;

Chelsea pipping Man City to the signing of Jorginho during the summer may have been the best thing to happen to the Premier League.
If the Italy international were now&nbsp;playing for Manchester City, the Premier League title race would probably have already become a foregone conclusion.

As it is, Jorginho has helped transform Chelsea into title challengers with his precise passing and incredible ability to control a game.

Roberto Pereyra has shown just why he was previously&nbsp;on Juventus' books by playing a&nbsp;pivotal part in Watford's surprisingly strong start to the season.
The Argentine attacking midfielder has netted three times already and his fine form has raised hopes of European qualification at Vicarage Road.

David Silva scoring a stunning free-kick on the day of his son's first appearance at the Etihad Stadium&nbsp;was undeniably the most beautiful moment of the season so far.&nbsp;
It was also unsurprising, given the Spaniard somehow managed to maintain his usual levels of excellence throughout his child's health problems last season, and he has been just as influential this term for Manchester City, creating a whopping 22 chances already.

Sergio Aguero is undeniably one of the best strikers in Premier League history and his remarkable strike-rate shows no signs of slowing down.
The Argentine attacker has bagged&nbsp;five goals already this season, including a fantastic hat-trick against Huddersfield.

Aguero's sensational goalscoring form has also led to him breaking into the top 10 Premier League goalscorers of all time, overtaking Teddy Sheringham despite playing 200 games fewer.

Fulham may have struggled so far in the Premier League but Aleksandar Mitrovic hasn't failed to replicate his Championship form in the top division.
The Serbian has netted five times already and, given he is a threat both in the air and from long range, don't be surprised if he maintains his challenge for this season's Golden Boot.

Eden Hazard has achieved the seemingly impossible and actually managed to move up a gear this season under new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.
After starring for Belgium at the World Cup, the winger has now added more goals to his game and is currently the Premier League's top scorer, after netting seven times already in just eight outings.
