<p>Speaking on <em>The Peter Crouch Podcast</em>, Ferguson spoke of the humorous interaction with Beckham. The ex-Everton striker revealed he "blanked" the England and Manchester United legend when he went to shake hands. Ferguson had something of a 'hardman' reputation on the pitch, and he suggested he was living up to that when approached by Beckham. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DJZtIojt5qS/?hl=en" target="_blank">The towering Scot had podcast hosts Peter Crouch, Steve Sidwell and Chris Stark in stitches as he described how it went down.</a></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Nearing 20 years on from his retirement, Ferguson has since worked on the coaching staff at former club Everton, in addition to managing Forest Green Rovers and Inverness Caledonian Thistle.</p><p>But he revealed that he hasn't yet had the chance to put right his awkward interaction with Beckham.</p>

<p>Ferguson said: "David Beckham? I blanked David Beckham. He came up to me, I said, 'get tae f*ck'. You know? It's David Beckham. Icon. I couldn't have laced his boots.</p><p>"I'm just playing up to a stupid thing where I don't shake people's hands. He just looked at me and I walked away like 'f*ck off'. I wish I met him now, I'd be dragging his shirt off him! And he'd be blanking me now wouldn't he? He'd be saying 'who's that?'"</p>

<p>Ferguson and Beckham made 534 Premier League appearances between them, with the Scotsman scoring 68 goals in 269 appearances in the English top flight.
