The former England and Barcelona striker allegedly broke BBC rules by wearing clothes from his range of Next menswear during the live coverage of the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/england-player-ratings-vs-serbia-jude-bellingham-bukayo-saka/blt2fa071fbbb381c0e" target="_blank">Three Lions' Euro 2024 opener against Serbia</a> on Sunday, according to the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13539961/gary-lineker-accused-breaching-bbc-rules-clothing-range-england-euros-match.html" target="_blank">Daily Mail</a>. Lineker was spotted wearing a pale green T-shirt and a sage jacket from his Next collection - a clothing line he launched in 2023 in collaboration with a high street retailer - during the coverage.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As per BBC rules, presenters are forbidden from wearing clothes which they are contracted to endorse or advertise or from where they gain financially on air. The former player's clothes in question are modelled by him on Next's online store.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

During the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 63-year-old got in trouble with the BBC after he promoted the TM Lewin Shirt on social media and wore it on air after becoming their brand ambassador.

DID YOU KNOW?

The ex-England international will now have to wait and see if the BBC takes action against him for appearing to breach their rules again. Gareth Southgate's Three Lions side, meanwhile, will be back in action in Euro 2024 on Thursday against Denmark.
