Reinforcements for Fran Kirby? Brighton target deadline-day move for another England star

According to <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/sep/12/brighton-hope-to-secure-nikita-parris-signing-on-wsl-deadline-day" target="_blank">The Guardian</a>, the Seagulls are in advanced talks to sign Parris. The 30-year-old has rejected offers from a number of other clubs and all signs now point to her joining fellow England international Fran Kirby at the Women's Super League outfit.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Brighton publicly announced their intentions to become a top four WSL side after hiring Dario Vidosic as head coach in July, and their activity in the summer transfer window is a clear sign of the club's ambition. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/fran-kirby-next-club-to-be-announced-following-chelsea-exit-england-international-prepares-stay-wsl/blt63e4daed20d314db" target="_blank">Kirby was signed on a free transfer</a> after leaving Chelsea, and her former Blues team-mate Jelena Cankovic also arrived. Parris would be another marquee signing.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Should Parris make the switch to Brighton, she could make her debut against one of her former clubs. Vidosic's side take on Everton on September 21 in their WSL opener - Parris started her career with the Toffees before joining Manchester City.
