<p>The Argentine forward had to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-city-aguero-retirement-friendly-appearance-ecuador-barcelona/blt7b52124d291d727e" target="_blank">prematurely end his professional career</a> in December 2021 after he was diagnosed with a heart condition. Only a few months earlier he had left Manchester City to join Barcelona ahead of the 2021-22 season, but his journey with the Catalan giants was cut short on medical grounds.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>At the time of his retirement, it seemed that the player and the club parted ways amicably, however, it has now been revealed that Aguero is taking legal action against Barcelona - as per <a href="https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20241007/1002329700/agueero-reclama-3-millones-barca-sociedad-pide-10-intermediar-dembele.html" target="_blank"><em>Mundo Deportivo</em></a>. In their annual financial report from 2023-24, Barcelona found out that they received a conciliation notice from Aguero, who claims to be owed €3 million as compensation for the termination of his contract.</p>

THE EXPLANATION

<p>The report also adds that a conciliation&nbsp;act took place between the two parties on June 21, 2024, and the matter is now sub judice under a social court. Barcelona maintain that they have no official record of the claim.</p>
