<p>Young dived into a challenge on Diaz when already on a yellow card, having previously tripped the winger, and was shown a second yellow card. The booking came after Young had heroically denied the forward with a brilliant block in the penalty area, but he went from hero to zero at Anfield. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Everton subsequently went into half-time with 10 men, and it is another example of the Merseyside derby throwing up flashpoints.
