<p>It is custom that the new champions are given a guard of honour in any remaining matches that season, and Maresca has made it clear his side will abide by it. The two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Maresca said: "I think it's a tradition, it's something you have to do, and we're going to do. First of all, they won the league, so they deserve that, and hopefully we can be there [as champions] very soon."</p>

WHAT MARESCA SAID

<p>Maresca's side were in contention at the top of the table in the first of the season but have fallen away, winning just seven of their last 18 league games. The Blues have not won the title since 2017 under Antonio Conte.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Chelsea currently sit fifth, which would be enough to qualify for next season's Champions League. After the Liverpool clash they have Newcastle, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest to play, while they are also red-hot favourites to win the Conference League.</p>
