<p>The FA announced earlier in the week that former Bayern Munich boss <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/thomas-tuchel-named-england-manager-ex-chelsea-bayern-munich-boss-oversee-bid-2026-world-cup-glory/bltfa32673f01069cf5" target="_blank">Tuchel has been chosen to lead England</a> into the 2026 World Cup following Gareth Southgate's departure in July. The Three Lions took their time before landing on a successor, placing Lee Carsley in interim charge.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Tuchel's appointment on Wednesday came after a quick turn of events in the week prior. England legend Lineker claimed other top managers were on their shortlist, revealing: "It was confirmed that in the summer they spoke with Pep Guardiola and, as far as I know, also with Ancelotti."</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Ancelotti has now dismissed these suggestions made by Lineker, but did take the time to praise former rival Tuchel.</p><p>When asked if he had been contacted over the job, Ancelotti said: "Nothing with the English federation. For me, they’ve hired a very good manager, tactically very strong. Good luck to him."</p>

WHAT ANCELOTTI SAID

<p>Ancelotti renewed his contract with Real Madrid until 2026 earlier this year amid suggestions he too could step into the international game with Brazil.</p>
