WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>After Liverpool came away from the Parc des Princes with a slender 1-0 lead, many expected the current Premier League leaders to see out a relatively comfortable evening at Anfield. However, Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the 12th minute to level the tie on aggregate. No more goals were scored as the game remained scoreless after 90 minutes and 30 minutes of extra-time.</p><p>With the tie finishing 1-1 after 210 minutes of action across two legs, a penalty shootout would determine the fate of the two teams. PSG converted all four of their penalties, taken by Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos, Dembele, and Desire Doue, in that order.</p><p>While Mohamed Salah confidently converted the opening penalty for Liverpool, Donnarumma delivered a stunning performance by denying the next two takers — Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones. His remarkable saves were the highlight of the shootout, securing PSG's passage to the quarter-finals.</p>
