Duncan Ferguson reveals regret over Rangers move as he admits he made Ibrox move too soon

<p>Ferguson has admitted that he joined Rangers too early in his career. The former Scotland international moved to Ibrox for £4 million in 1993, then a British record, but struggled to make an impact and was sold to Everton a year later.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Ferguson arrived at Rangers with a big price tag and even bigger expectations but was unable to cope with the intense scrutiny that came with playing for the Glasgow giants. His spell was ill-fated, as he was banned for 12 games upon arrival after a headbutt against Raith Rovers, for which he would eventually serve prison time.</p>

<p>He told <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYkHcex1cL0&amp;t=56s" target="_blank">Stick To Football</a>: "I wasn't ready for Rangers. I should have stayed at Dundee United for another 12 months - I was desperate to leave.</p><p>"I went down to Leeds and spoke to them. They wanted me. I spoke to Howard Wilkinson and he was a very nice man, a lovely guy and a great coach, but he put me to sleep! I wanted to play for Rangers.</p><p>"I went to Rangers and, to this day, I don't know my salary. I don't know what I signed for. I've never got a clue!"</p>

WHAT FERGUSON SAID

<p>Ferguson is currently out of work but is hoping to make a return to coaching. The former striker has been working towards his badges and is eager to get back into the dugout.</p>
