Varane went off with an apparent ankle injury early in the second half before Lindelof was replaced by Lisandro Martinez with another issue. The news comes as a big concern as United are already without Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial in what has been an injury-plagued campaign. However, Varane told journalist <a href="https://twitter.com/StevenRailston/status/1774202685865988440" target="_blank">Steven Railston</a> that his injury is "not too bad".

WHAT HAPPENED?

It was a frustrating day for United, who, besides losing two players, dropped two points at Brentford. The Red Devils looked guaranteed to win the game when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-player-ratings-v-brentford-mason-mount-andre-onana/blt2bbc05a6b975103e" target="_blank">Mason Mount scored in stoppage time</a> of the second half, but Kristoffer Ajer popped up with an even later goal to seal a 1-1 draw.

United sit sixth in the Premier League table and eight points behind fifth-placed Tottenham. The weekend's slip-up puts a dent in their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League. However, Erik ten Hag remains hopeful of his team's chances, saying to Match of the Day: "There are many games to play. Let's take this point. In the end it could be a very good point."
