Everton confirm plans for Dele Alli's future as injured midfielder heads into final month of contract at Goodison Park

The Toffees have confirmed that the former England international will remain at the club after next month, despite his contract expiring in June.
<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/dele-alli-time-talking-stop-transfer-message-ex-tottenham-star-leave-everton-free-agent-bit-between-teeth/blt2b8f7388901976cc" target="_blank">Dele</a> is currently recovering from a groin injury and will continue to do so at Everton, as the club look to ensure his rehabilitation is not impacted by the contract situation.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Speaking in a <a href="https://www.evertonfc.com/news/4017635" target="_blank">statement</a> released by the club, director of football Kevin Thelwell said: "Dele’s contract is coming to an end, but our medical team will continue to support him while he completes the intensive rehabilitation programme he is currently undergoing following the operation he had earlier this year."Both Sean and I agree it is important we ensure Dele’s rehabilitation is not impacted by his contract situation at such a critical point in his recovery.”

WHAT EVERTON SAID

Dele has not featured for Everton during the current season after suffering a setback in his comeback from injury earlier in 2024. The former Tottenham Hotspur ace underwent surgery in January on the groin issue, after it was previously hoped he would return during the 2023/24 season.The midfielder picked up an initial hip injury while playing for Turkish side Besiktas, almost 15 months ago, where he also had surgery to address the issue.Everton boss Sean Dyche has commented on his future at Goodison Park after his contract expires, where he said: "We'll see. My main aim and I've spoken to him endlessly about it is just to get him back on the pitch, get him playing, get him smiling, get him enjoying it again."

As previously noted, Dele will now continue the lengthy rehabilitation period at Everton following surgery.
