The ex-Tottenham midfielder has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/dele-alli-naruto-anime-inspired-fitness-update-potential-everton-return-18-months-last-match/bltbaa13519618df33e" target="_blank">not stepped foot on a football pitch</a> since 2022 after suffering a thigh injury and left Everton once his contract expired in the summer, although he has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/isn-t-the-championship-dele-alli-told-doesn-t-stand-chance-everton-comeback-unless-proves-one-thing-sean-dyche/blt44dadd857e228b75" target="_blank">continued to train with the Toffees</a>. But according to <a href="https://www.ilsecoloxix.it/sport/2024/09/30/news/genoa_motivi_crisi-14675165/" target="_blank">Il Secolo XIX</a>, the 28-year-old could be close to making a return with Genoa, who have approached Dele about a potential deal.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As well as his thigh problem, Dele previously admitted he had been struggling with his mental health. A return to a top team would mark a significant achievement for the 37-cap international, who had the world at his feet once upon a time.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Dele made his England debut nearly nine years ago at just 19 years of age. The ex-MK Dons man's rise to the top was phenomenal and he went from scoring in League One to the Premier League and Champions League in a matter of months after joining Spurs.
