<p>Nunez has netted 40 goals for the Reds, but only seven in all competitions this season in an underwhelming campaign. He has been increasingly out of favour under Arne Slot, with the Reds' imperious Premier League title win doing nothing to help Nunez's case for getting back in the side. The most likely outcome is that Liverpool cut their losses on their €85 million (£72m) record signing and cash in so that they can land a new forward, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liverpool-newcastle-gbp120m-alexander-isak-valuation-reds-ramp-up-transfer-plans-mohamed-salah-virgil-van-dijk-contract-renewals/bltea02ea1865a65bf1" target="_blank">Alexander Isak a reported major target</a>.</p>

<p>There was speculation last month that Slot was avoiding starting Nunez so that Liverpool would not have to pay an additional £5m to Benfica for his 60th start for the club. The Dutch manager said, denying these claims: "Sometimes you shouldn't believe what is written about players. It's completely new to me."</p>
