However, <a href="https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1916057915372540406" target="_blank">according to Fabrizio Romano</a>, Como have not made contact with the player.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The future of De Bruyne remains in the air. A number of clubs, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/kevin-de-bruyne-marcus-rashford-aston-villa-signing-belgian-free-transfer-man-city-exit-como-dele-alli/blt572e84fce35073cd" target="_blank">including Aston Villa </a>and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-harry-kane-move-kevin-de-bruyne-reunion-enzo-maresca-experience-in-youthful-squad/bltfab477f0b577d6e0" target="_blank">Chelsea</a>, have been linked with an approach for the Premier League legend, but aside from <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chicago-fire-reportedly-make-move-to-sign-kevin-de-bruyne-as-manchester-city-star-continues-to-be-linked-with-mls-transfer/blt679e9ec4b4adf6b2" target="_blank">a proposal from MLS outfit Chicago Fire</a>, he is yet to be given any formal offers. THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>De Bruyne did not choose to leave City this summer, rather it was the club's choice to not offer the ageing midfielder fresh terms. In the past couple of seasons, the midfielder has struggled for consistency and fitness and it is perhaps unsurprising that City did not want to stump up the salary the Belgian would command.</p>
