Colombian Football Federation head arrested after Copa America altercation in Miami

<p>Miami-Dade Jail records show that Colombia Football President Ramon Jesurun Franco was arrested early Monday morning after the Copa America final in Miami, according to a <a href="https://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/colombian-football-federation-president-arrested-at-copa-america-20778484" target="_blank">report from the Miami New Times</a>.</p><p>Jesurun, a vice president of CONMEBOL, was reportedly booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center just after 4 am ET on<span> charges of battery on an official or employee.</span></p><p></p><p>ESPN reported that <span>Jesurun,</span> 71, was accused of fighting multiple security guards at one of the stadium's tunnels used for the media at around 12:20 a.m., according to the arrest report.</p><p>The police report said the altercation turned physical once the security officer asked<span></span><span></span> <span>Jesurun and his son</span> to step back. According to the officer, the duo quickly "became irate" at a guard and began "shouting" at him.</p><p></p>

The match itself was shrouded by <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/conmebol-made-a-mess-of-copa-america-marring-the-summer-soccer-in-the-u-s-two-years-ahead-of-the-world-cup/bltb1b3775b21505005" target="_blank">pre-game chaos as fans without tickets stormed past the gates at Hard Rock Stadium </a>in Miami. USA Today reported Miami-Dade police made "10-15 arrests" ahead of kickoff. </p>
