<p>The Manchester United legend was hoping to rebuild his reputation in coaching circles at Home Park, off the back of a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/what-they-should-want-did-tom-brady-birmingham-learn-wayne-rooney-lesson-another-managerial-name-sought-american-owners/blt179185301598e137" target="_blank">disastrous 83-day stint at Birmingham</a>, but lasted <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/revealed-how-wayne-rooney-reacted-dark-side-football-plymouth-sacking-man-utd-legend-tipped-top-manager-horrible-time/blt33b949a2ff8bb0b3" target="_blank">just 25 games in Devon</a> and left with the Pilgrims rooted to the foot of the second tier table.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Rooney has been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/football-keeps-him-out-of-trouble-coleen-rooney-devastated-plymouth-sack-man-utd-legend-wayne/bltdba732fe55e81707" target="_blank">freed to spend more time with his family</a>, and is taking up a pastime that he was prevented from pursuing during his playing days. With no contracts to contend with at present, the ex-England captain is able to put his body on the line.</p>

<p>Coleen has told <a href="https://www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/759991/coleen-rooney-reveals-husband-waynes-exciting-new-hobby/ " target="_blank"><em>HELLO!</em></a>: "He's just started skiing. We both went to the [Indoor Snowcentre] Chill Factore in Manchester, and had a lesson. I've been skiing for a few years now because of the kids, but he's never done it before. So now that’s something we're sharing together."</p><p>The 2024 I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here runner-up added: "We do active days out with the kids. We have days where we go to trails and we’re lucky to have a gym in the house, we have a boxing ring that gets used a lot as well. We try and do a lot together."</p>

WHAT COLEEN ROONEY SAID

<p>While spending time with their four children – including oldest son Kai, who is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/coleen-rooney-reveals-abuse-son-kai-receives-football-matches-father-wayne-15-year-old-man-utd-academy-star-fuming/bltdbaae019310b7c21" target="_blank">catching the eye in Manchester United’s academy system</a> – is a priority for the Rooneys, they also <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wayne-rooney-unrecognisable-mrs-doubtfire-coleen-date-night-man-utd-legend-free-time-plymouth-sacking/blt992581d3bfd23760" target="_blank">enjoy spending time alone</a>. Coleen went on to say: "We try to have a date night every week. It was hard with him being away in Plymouth. So now to have him back home is nice. We try and do something together – even if it's just a takeaway or a night away from the kids. I do think it's important to make time for each other."</p>
