Per journalist <a href="https://x.com/sachatavolieri/status/1818307156065608039" target="_blank">Sacha Tavolieri</a>, the Blues are in advanced talks to sign Genk's young custodian Penders in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Premier League side are reportedly offering a transfer fee of €20m (£16m) and a percentage of future resale to the Belgian side. The custodian, however, will be sent back on loan to Genk and will only be appearing for the Blues from the 2025/26 campaign.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea are looking to bolster their goalkeeping position in the current window. They have already <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-filip-jorgensen-joins-enzo-maresca-side-villarreal-dane-arrives-challenge-for-no-1-spot/blt281e757fd38d3645#cs704874d8ffe491ff" target="_blank">completed the signing of Denmark international Jorgensen</a> from La Liga side Villarreal for €24.5m (£20m) as they look to provide competition to Robert Sanchez for the No.1 spot in the upcoming season.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

19-year-old Penders did not play a single game for the Genk senior side in the 2023/24 campaign, however, he made 25 appearances for the club's reserves side in the Challenger Pro League.
