Chelsea player ratings vs Man Utd: Out-of-sorts Raheem Sterling and anonymous Mykhailo Mudryk put in woeful showings as sloppy Blues slip up again

Chelsea's hopes of finally kickstarting their season were dealt a blow on Wednesday as they went down 2-1 to Manchester United in a sloppy performance that underlined their inconsistency under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues started slowly, and were indebted to Robert Sanchez for his early penalty save from Bruno Fernandes after Enzo Fernandez fouled Antony in the box. However, the goalkeeper was helpless to prevent Scott McTominay from giving the hosts the lead midway through the first half.

Chelsea eventually fought their way into the game, and after Nicolas Jackson and Mykhailo Mudryk wasted good chances, Cole Palmer grabbed an equaliser shortly before half-time with a fine hooked finish into the bottom corner.

The visitors were unable to kick on from there, however, and United eventually made their superiority count as McTominay headed in his second of the game with just over 20 minutes to play to condemn Chelsea to a defeat that leaves them 10th in the Premier League table.
