<p>UEFA has officially confirmed that Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs will be officiating the 2025 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter. The clash will take place at Munich's Allianz Arena on Saturday, May 31. WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>At 40, Kovacs has significant experience officiating in Europe's biggest arenas. A FIFA-listed referee since 2010, he has already overseen seven Champions League matches this season, including PSG’s high-stakes round-of-16 second leg against Liverpool, where the French giants edged past the Reds on penalties. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>This will be the 70th Champions League final in history, and the first in Munich since 2012, when Chelsea faced Bayern Munich, a match the English side won on penalties. Kovacs becomes one of the very few referees to officiate all three major UEFA club competition finals.</p>
