<p>The Red Dragons, who have seen <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/blake-lively-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-magic-record-breaking-wrexham/bltdc9ee63d6235391e" target="_blank">three successive promotions lift them into the Championship</a>, are in the process of identifying transfer targets. Phil Parkinson admits that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-shopping-premier-league-market-transfer-hint-phil-parkinson-reveals-talks-held-targets/bltb870473ad4c8a952" target="_blank">“talks” with potential new recruits have already been held</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Wrexham are being <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/hollywood-signing-jamie-vardy-match-made-heaven-wrexham-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-premier-league-title-winner/blt607ed04d4a16d635" target="_blank">linked with a number of players that boast top-flight experience</a>, including Jamie Vardy, Tom Cairney, Patrick Bamford and Lewis O’Brien. There is supposedly<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/jamie-vardy-tom-cairney-patrick-bamford-wrexham-director-responds-transfer-talk-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhnney-interest-players-never-heard-of/blta57d07e649ce1bed" target="_blank"> little substance to that speculation</a>.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The Welsh outfit are, however, being urged to consider a move for 33-year-old frontman Wilson, as the nine-cap England international will become a free agent when reaching the end of his contract at Newcastle this summer.</p>

Newcastle will probably improve their squad for next season and it will be even harder to get game time.

</p><p>“A player like Callum Wilson with that experience, he will be able to keep the level up in the Championship and teach the young lads, I could see that signing being a success.”</p>

WHAT DIETMAR HAMANN SAID

<p>Part of the problem for Wrexham would be Wilson’s wages, which are <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenny-wrexham-pay-premier-league-captain-50000-week-tom-cairney-fulham/blt255c8b72746fd068" target="_blank">reported to be around £46,000-a-week</a>. He has, however, suffered with injury issues of late and may be prepared to take a pay cut in order to join the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/300m-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-wrexham-valuation-update-bid-reach-premier-league/blt66082c0886b3db7a" target="_blank">ambitious project being pieced together by Hollywood superstars</a> at SToK Racecourse.</p>
